What is Lame:
The process of converting Audio CDs or WAV files to MP3 files is
called Encoding. Lame is one of the best Encoders available. It is fast
and provides the best sound quality MP3s. The Lame encoder program file
can be downloaded for free on several Internet sites, including the
ones below. Software and Web Services LLC and Celestial Software and
Technology LLC have not written and do not supply the Lame encoder with
MP3 Home Studio. Instead, MP3 Home Studio has the ability to invoke
and use the Lame encoder to create MP3 files.
Where can I download Lame:
You only need to download Lame encoder if MP3 Home Studio asks you to
do so when you try to encode a CD or convert a WAV file to MP3. In other
cases, Lame.exe may already be on your computer from the past or from
another MP3 program.
The Lame encoder is generally found as Lame.exe file (or Lame executable
or binary for Windows, generally as a zip file) from these sites. In
some instances, you can download and run the Lame install directly to
install Lame.exe in the correct folder. In other instances the Lame.exe
is available as a zipped file. In this case, you should unzip and extract
only the Lame.exe file into your current Advanced MP3 Home Studio folder
or directory. This would generally be your "C:\Advanced MP3 Home
Studio" folder. (Lame.exe can also be installed to your Windows\System32
folder instead).
Note: Make sure you download the Lame.exe (or Lame executable or binary
for Windows, generally as a zip file) from the Internet. Lame.dll or
other DLLs will not work.
